EUROPEAN NUT ASSOCIATON; A PLATFORM FOR THE NUT BRANCH

Welcome to the website of the European Nut Association

In April 2004 the Dutch Peanut Council (DPC) and the Arbeitskreis Erdnuss (AKE) are amalgamated. This merger between the AKE and DPC is the first step to come to a European platform as well for peanuts as tree nuts.

Why?
Within a global European environment there are mainly national organisations which implies that the nut-industry has a scattered voice on European level and in some of the EU Countries. AKE and DPC decided to bundle their knowledge and experience with an aim to extent this as much as possible with members of the entire European Union.

Who?
The name of the association is European Nut Association.
ENA has more than 60 members. The complete chain of the nut industry is affiliated with the association (producers, trade, warehousing, brokers, laboratories, processors, retail).

Aim?
The main target is to become the European association for nuts with regard to:

  • Information about nuts (technical, food safety, nutrition and health).
  • Presenting and defending interest of this particular industry towards
Local- and European authorities, sister organisations, origin producers, and consumers.
  • Create a platform where we can exchange ideas, discuss proposals.
  • Decide upon issues so there is one strong voice about nuts in Europe.

Until the second official General Meeting of ENA there is an interim board, which consists of representatives from AKE and DPC.

Main task of this interim board is to further establish and expand ENA, communicate about ENA in the European field of the food industry.
